The New Way of Life
Last day of our original 12 weeks in isolation but no end in sight for us yet.
I can’t believe we’ve gone so long without seeing our family and friends except virtually or from a distance. No one has been in our house or garden for 3 months.
Interestly, this was the main factor that had held us back form moving permanently to Barbados. The fear of being separated from the people we love. Now, that fear has been realised for another reason and we haven’t imploded with grief or loneliness. Yes, its been hard, and we’ve had our ups and downs, but together we are good. It’s making us think that we may just go on and do it. M’s health is good when we are out there. We can come back for visits. The lives of our family and friends will go on without us. Although they are missing us and we’re missing them, they’re actually getting on fine without us during The Time of Covid. We need to do what’s right for us.
I’ve been a bit disturbed by people putting things on social media like “all lives matter” and “white lives matter” and complaining about the anti-racism protests citing, looting, criminal damage, lack of social distancing, Lee Rigby, police horses, etc. etc. etc.
It’s time for this to stop! It’s time for us all to speak out against racism once and for all. No excuses! There is a momentum now that we must not lose. I posted this on FB today.
I have seen a few people I know posting things like “white lives matter” and “all lives matter” over the past few days and I haven’t said anything because I didn’t know what to say, or because I didn’t want to say what I want to say on social media.
So, if I “unfriend” over the next few days, that is why, and I will speak to you face to face when I next see you.
